Our Story

Hi there, I’m Megan and I “officially” started Local Blooms back in 2022.

My husband and I moved back to Ohio in 2020 just before covid. After living in a 600 square foot apartment for the last few years in Asheville, North Carolina getting back to a more rural setting felt like a breath of fresh air. I missed the rolling hills and both my husband and I took advantage of our newfound freedom. We started to make maple syrup from our families’ woods, forage all the mushrooms we could, and grow a small cut flower garden.

During the 2020 pandemic, we were able to give our flowers away. At a time when people were alone in their homes, flowers had extra magic about them. Seeing the reaction flowers can elicit inspired us to grow more. After a couple of years of becoming better growers, Local Blooms was born. We’re just on the edge of Loudonville, our home tucked away between 3 large oak trees with family just over the river and through the woods (creek really, but I digress). Each year our farm has grown as well as our family. We are more determined than ever to leave this land a sort of Eden for our children and others, and that plan includes the most beautiful blooms we can manage to grow! Thank you for stopping by.

Local Blooms operates as a farmer-florist enterprise. We not only grow, but arrange flowers as well. We offer à la carte event florals, a traveling flower bar, bouquets available for pick up, and on Saturday mornings you can find us at the Loudonville Farmer’s Market.
